CRL9GC Glass Primer chemically reacts with the glass frit and urethane to provide a secure bond. Clean new glass first with PWR22 Automotive Glass Cleaner, and then apply CRL9GC fo the frit with a lint-free wipe. No need for any additional blackout primer. If the glass is supplied without black ceramic frit, paint the edges with CRL9P Pinchweld Primer. Cleaning and Primers
CRL 900 and 700 Series Urethanes are supported by a selection of primers formulated for use in all aspects of glass bonding, including a glass frit primer, a pinchweld primer, and a primer specifically formulated for use with EPDM/PVC moldings.
1. After removing all of the old urethane to within 1/16 inch (1.5 millimeter) of the pinchweld, prepare the pinchweld following the procedures outlined in the CRL Technicians Training Manual. Prime these areas with CRL9P Pinchweld Primer.
2. Clean the inside of the windshield with a lint-free towel 1550 and PWR22 Automotive Glass Cleaner.
3. Apply CRL9GC Glass Primer to frit area with a lint-free towel and wipe dry. Allow to flash off for a minimum of 10 minutes, but no more than 8 hours before installing adhesive. This procedure must be performed above 40°F (4°C). NOTE: CRL9GC Glass Primer must be used prior to any adhesive application to prevent glass displacement. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or property damage.
4. Apply CRL9EP EPDM/PVC Primer to encapsulated moldings if they are part of the bonding area.
